Murine Typhus in Northland Carried by Rat Fleas

Murine typhus is reported in Northland. This serious disease is carried the fleas of rats, mice and possums. Auckland Regional Health have advised avoiding contact with rats and fleas in the area and eradication of rats, mice and possums on properties.
