Cape Weed and similar species catsear, hawksbeard, dandelion, hawkbit and oxtongue, are common weeds of New Zealand gardens. They are often found in lawns, wasteland, pasture and roadsides.
Cape Weed can be differentiated from many of the other rosette weeds found in turf by the jagged, angular lobes, which aren’t as rounded as many of the closely related dandelion-type flat rosette weeds and the woolly undersides of the leaves.
