Planting Roses
Winter Planting (May-August)
- Prepare a planting hole by digging slightly deeper and wider than the bag the rose is supplied in or the size of the bare roots.
- Water the hole.
- Thoroughly mix 1-2 handfuls of Gro-Sure Planting Magic with the soil that has been dug out of the hole.
- Hold the rose over the hole and gently pull rose out of the bag, a sharp knife may be needed to split the bag, let any loose potting mix fall into the hole.
- Mound the potting mix in the hole and place the rose on top carefully, loosen the roots and spread them evenly around the mound.
- The crown of the rose (where the branches grow from) should be level with or slightly above the ground level.
- Backfill the hole with the soil and Gro-Sure Planting Magic mix and firm lightly with your feet.
- Water well.

Roses in Pots and Containers
Roses grow happily in pots and containers if they are given sufficient space.
- A pot or container of at least 10 litres volume will happily grow a rose bush for up to three years if you use a premium potting mix with Gro-Sure Planting Magic which will slowly break down & release its nutrients over a 6-7 month period.
- Watering is very important during the height of Summer; watering twice a day is often needed. Include a fish-based liquid fertiliser once a month in the watering can at the recommended application.
- Smaller growing bush roses and miniatures do exceedingly well in pots and standard roses can look amazing growing in pots, especially underplanted with your favourite annuals.
