Weeds are plants growing in the wrong place. They may be in the wrong place because they harm the plants around them, they are unsightly, they encourage pests and disease, or make being in the garden unpleasant.
Whatever the reason for the weed being a problem in your garden, you will find a product in the Kiwicare Garden herbicide range to help you get rid of them and keeping them away.
Did you know some weeds are invasive pest plants scheduled as a Biosecurity risk.
In order to choose the appropriate product consider the type of weed, where it is growing, what plants are around it and any other considerations you might have such as only wanting to use organic products.
If you have weeds in your lawn they are surrounded by grass, it therefore important to use a selective herbicide that controls broadleaf weeds without harming the grass. TURFCLEAN will control almost all such weeds and does not brown off grasses. LAWNCLEAN HYDROCOTYLE and PRICKLE are targeted more directly at the more difficult to control lawn weeds as their names suggest. Alternatively you can spot spray with a general herbicide such as WEED WEAPON taking care to spray only the weeds.
Weeds in flowerbeds can be manually pulled out or sprayed with new fast acting WEED WEAPON with XPI technology. Manually weeding is effective where all the roots can be removed. For larger weeds or where the weeds difficult to remove completely BUSTER will kill the weed right down to its roots preventing re-growth. As Buster is a general non-selective herbicide it is important not to overspray onto desirable plants.
For more difficult to control weeds such as ivy, and woody weeds, INVADE GEL or WOODY WEED CONTROL can be used. INVADE GEL can be used without risk to neighbouring plants as it is painted onto the weed directly and not sprayed.
Weeds that grow between pavers or in gaps in driveways can be unsightly and may cause damage to the surfaces. PATHCLEAR LONG TERM is ideal for control of weeds in these situations. Not only does it kill weeds of most sorts, it then prevents germination of weed seeds for up to a year, keeping your paths and drives clear of weeds and reducing the need to use more herbicide.
Whether they are weeds or the stumps of older trees that you decided to cut down leaving roots behind can let the weed or tree re-sprout. The use of STUMP STOP or INVADE GEL will prevent re-growth and leave the roots to rot into the soil without harm to surrounding plants. Unlike other gel herbicides INVADE GEL contains a bright red colour to make it easy to see treated stems and leaves and to ensure that none are missed. The brush applicator makes it easy to apply the gel to leaves and cut stems or stumps.
INVADE GEL can also be used to control difficult to kill creeping and vine weeds such as old man's beard, convolulus, ivy and wandering willie. In this case cut the weeds back to leave several leaves in the bottom. Immediately apply INVADE GEL to leaves and cut ends.
